Quick Cash Cars buys lorries, trucks and other heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) from hauliers, owner-drivers and businesses across Kent. By HGV we mean goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight, from 7.5-tonne rigids to tractor units. We're based at Bayford Court in Sittingbourne and have been buying vehicles for more than 30 years.
Call 01795 250 065 for a free valuation, message us on WhatsApp on 07432 134772, or send the details through our online valuation form. There are no admin fees, we deal with the paperwork on the day, and we pay by bank transfer.
If it's a goods vehicle and it's in Kent, we'll give you a figure for it. That includes:
We buy most makes, including DAF, Scania, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, MAN, Iveco and Renault Trucks.
Condition doesn't rule a lorry out. We buy HGVs with high mileage, accident damage, engine, gearbox, DPF or AdBlue faults, and ones that have failed or missed their annual test. Selling one vehicle or several from the same fleet follows the same process.
We buy the lorry outright. We're not a broker or a listing site, so there are no auction or listing fees, no adverts and no waiting for a buyer who might not turn up.
An auction charges fees, and you won't know what the lorry has made until the hammer falls. A private sale means adverts, calls and viewings from people who may never buy. All the while, the vehicle keeps costing you in finance, insurance and yard space.
Selling direct to us gets you a figure up front and a date the lorry will be gone. Want to test the market first? Call us anyway. A free valuation gives you a number to measure other offers against.
We pay by bank transfer, not cash. It gives you and us a clear record of the sale, and it's how a vehicle bought for scrap has to be paid for under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013.
Selling a lorry involves more paperwork than selling a car. Here's what to sort out before collection day.
Have the V5C ready. When you sell to a motor trader like us, you tell DVLA online, which takes a few minutes with the document reference number. If the logbook is missing, tell us when you call and we'll talk you through the options.
The plating certificate (VTG 7A) and the ministry plate in the cab (VTG 6A) show the lorry's gross, train and axle weights. Pass the certificate on with the vehicle. A current annual test usually helps the price, but we still buy lorries that have failed or missed it. You can check any vehicle's test history for free on GOV.UK.
Download the vehicle unit data before the lorry leaves your control. DVSA guidance says operators must do this immediately before transferring control, for example when a vehicle is sold, and keep the records for 12 months. Locking out your company card is optional.
Take the vehicle off your operator's licence through your Vehicle Operator Licensing (VOL) account. It's free, and GOV.UK warns that leaving vehicles you've sold on the licence can affect your repute as an operator.
If the lorry is on hire purchase, the lender owns it until the agreement is paid off, so it can't be sold without settling it. Ask your lender for a settlement figure in writing and mention it when you call.
If you're VAT-registered and the VAT on the original purchase was reclaimable, VAT is normally due on the full selling price. Goods vehicles of 3 tonnes or more unladen aren't treated as cars for VAT. HMRC sets out the rules in VAT Notice 700/64, and your accountant can confirm how they apply to you.
Telling DVLA you've sold the lorry cancels its tax automatically. Most HGVs taxed between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027 pay a temporary £1 rate plus the HGV levy, so expect little or nothing back. If the lorry carries a private number, apply to take it off before the sale (DVLA charges £80) or you'll lose it.
Our base is in Sittingbourne. The A249 links Sittingbourne to the M2 at junction 5 and the M20 at Maidstone, so most of the county is within easy reach. We have local pages for Kent's main freight areas:
We buy across the rest of Kent too, including Sheerness, Faversham, Canterbury, Folkestone, Tonbridge and Sevenoaks.
If you're clearing a mixed fleet, we buy those too. See sell your van in Kent and sell your car in Kent.
Yes. Non-runners, accident-damaged lorries and vehicles with engine, gearbox, DPF or AdBlue faults all get a valuation. Tell us what's wrong when you call so the estimate is as close as possible.
Tell us when you call and have a written settlement figure from your lender. The finance has to be cleared as part of the sale, because the lender owns the vehicle until it's paid off.
No. We buy lorries with a failed or expired test. A current test and plating certificate usually help the price.
Make, model, age, mileage, condition, body type and service history all count, along with what similar vehicles are selling for. The figure we give on the phone is an estimate, and we confirm it when we see the lorry.
We buy it. Quick Cash Cars isn't a broker or a listing service, so there's no fee and no wait for a third-party buyer.
Yes. Send us the details of each vehicle and we'll value them together.
Yes, including horseboxes built on lorry chassis.
By bank transfer, not cash. We pay once the paperwork is complete.
Once we've agreed a price, we'll agree a collection time that suits you. For larger vehicles we'll agree a time that works for your site.
Call 01795 250 065 or message 07432 134772 on WhatsApp. If you'd rather type, fill in our online valuation form with the registration, mileage and condition and we'll call you back.
